EFS California Tour 2016 - Boys U14/15 & U16

The European Football School U14/15 and U16 teams played seven friendly games in California against some strong South California competition between April 28 - May 3, 2016. The two EFS teams were comprised of 26 players aged 13 to 15 years old, from North and West Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Abbotsford, Squamish, Salmon Arm, Williams Lake, Bella Coola, and Quesnel, BC. The boys trained for two months in preparation for this tour, training 3 to 4 times a week. Our teams played against some strong teams from the South California region: four teams from Pateadores Laguna Club, Los Angeles United, Pacific Soccer Club and Pateadores Mission Viejo Club. The teams finished with a record of 4 wins, 2 ties and 1 loss. EFS would like to give a big thank you to Andy Thomas of the Pateadores Laguna Club for organizing the majority of our games in California.

We acknowledge the hard work of assistant coaches, Dale Venekamp and Tim Vaux in helping Head Coach, Saibo Talic, prepare these teams for competition. We also thank our Tour Manager, Mira Borejszo, for organizing the players and parents while on tour, and also Angie Venekamp for her help in preparing all of the necessary paperwork, communicating with parents and for creating an amazing blinder full of tour information, from car rentals, medical insurance, hotel details, game schedule and parent info. Thanks to Christine Broatch for all her guidance and budgeting help.

Last but not least, thank you to the 15 parents on the tour who were amazing in providing support to the players both on and off the field, and for helping with transporting the group, taking care of the group's meals, laundering uniforms, and keeping our players healthy and safe.
